About this deal

Beyerdynamic t5p (what kind of nonsese is this headphone, or the unit I heard was borked). Was disappointing being a guy who's into beyers vintage stuff like dt48. Overall, I really like the SRH1540. It takes what I liked about the sound of its SRH840 sibling and does it better in just about every way. Better bass. More balanced mids. Smooth, detailed highs. Greater sense of space and instrument separation. If you like the SRH840, you’ll likely love the SRH1540, except for its price, but we’ll get to that later. Sargis Aslamazian - The Sky is Cloudy (Classical/Armenian): The National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia has a great classical program, and the SRH1540 plays this music with good separation, tone, and big-orchestra precision.

En résumé: Un magnifique casque de type fermé, très bien conçu, pour la gamme de prix d'environ 400€. L'équivalent dans cette même tranche de prix en ouvert, serait plutôt le Sennheiser HD660S. Tout dépend de vos goûts.Despite their size, Shure’s SRH1540 are the most comfortable headphones we can recall wearing.Their lightweight frame, gentle but firm clamping force, and soft ear pads made putting them on like strapping a couple of pillows to our head. And never – not even once – did we ever have any trouble with heat build-up or ear sweats. Sure they’re big, but they are so comfortable we could wear them all day – in fact, we did. Noise isolation Shure's typical MMCX connectors. I hated them on their SE(iem) line, but I actually like them quite a bit for their headphones! This is different from SRH940. SRH1840 and SRH1440 uses the same connectors from my memory. They give you extra Alcantara Pads! Also included, but not in the picture is an extra set of cables. Great accessories, as expected of Shure. The alcantara for the pads, makes a difference. I thought the velour pads were comfy, but not that much when you compare with alcantara.

They have a room quality sound to them. In natural rooms with loudspeakers, bass tends to come forward and highs are a little subdued. I had a chance to listed to a really nice speaker system this weekend (not mine, as mine isn't very good), and my opinion was confirmed. These Shures are tuned in a similar manner than I hear in room settings. Yet the more I listened to the NDH 30s, the more I felt that they should displace the Shures at the top of the heap. Perhaps it’s the exceptionally low distortion, but there’s something about the sound that relaxes your ears and makes you feel that you’re listening to music, not to a monitoring system. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that I suspect their vestigial softness in the upper midrange might simply represent unaccustomed clarity, rather than a real dip in the frequency response. As always, the important bits... The sound. As soon as I felt the great comfort, I turned "On" my X3, pressed "Play", closed my eyes and I knew I was in for something... different. Being used to the 440/940 sound and very familiar with the 1840/SennHD600 sound, what was coming out of the SRH1540s caught me by surprise. Why? Well previous Shure's were lean on the low-end. Bass presence has been "there" forever in all of them but not really powerful nor particularly impactful. The 1540s are ALMOST basshead levels to these ears. Bass has definitely been increased so the good thing is that they don't sound as "boring" as most of their previous entries. The bad news, I feel that bass overpowers and smear a bit into the lower mids. This "heft" especially in the mid-bass region gave the overall tuning a bit of warmth. So initial impressions were: We’re used to big boxes like the one the SRH1540 came in, but we’re not used to seeing a case of the same size sitting inside. This was our first indication that Shure took the SRH1540 pretty seriously, and that we probably should too. The case is the sort that you might expect to get with high-end studio monitor headphones (but never do), designed with protection and storage in mind first, and portability a distant second. Our only criticism is that the low mids feel a bit dominated by the deep bass extension and clarity - a masking effect due to our own auditory expectations and preferences. Premium in all ways If you’d rather have wireless headphones, then you’ll struggle to find better than the Sony WH-1000XM5. Offering best-in-class noise cancelling, 30-hour battery life and awesome sound quality, these over-ear headphones are the real deal – and they’re also cheaper than the Shure SRH1540. gold plated screw on adapter. You can never have enough of these. Better to have spares than none at all.

Ana Victoria - Roxanne (Pop Vocal): Spacious sound, good bass tone and impact, and the vocal sounds very natural. Excellent reproduction by the SRH1540. Between headphones and earphones, there's a range of driver styles. In headphones, the most common option is the dynamic driver—headphones typically only employ a single full-range driver in each earcup’s enclosure. In recent years, audiophiles have gotten excited about planar magnetic drivers, which use a magnetic field to vibrate a large (compared with a dynamic driver) flat surface area. Planar magnetic drivers are typically sought after for their ability to deliver high levels of detail throughout the frequency range with very little distortion and a highly accurate bass response. Like the even less common (and far more expensive) electrostatic drivers, the enclosures for these headphones are often large and not really ideal for wearing out of the house. Many earphones that employ planar magnetic drivers look rather bulky and odd as well. For anyone arguing that they just need a 'burn in' time - the sound signature on mine has not changed much after hundreds of hours of use and in my opinion if you are hoping they will 'improve', they wont.Je viens d'un AKG K240 Studio après 8 ans d'utilisation intensive, très bon rapport qualité-prix autour de 60€, avec très bonne solidité. This is one of the only areas on the 1540 I wish would’ve been different, as it just makes sense to have one single headband pressing down to the scalp, not two. The 1540 leaves two distinct indentations on my head after extended periods of use. The downward force of the dual headband may not be suited for those with larger heads. As far as the Shure's comfort, it's fairly light weight for an over-the-ear frame and has a very flexible and low profile headband structure! Between the space inside the earcups and the perforated earpad material, there's very little to no sweat build-up after several hours of use! Very nice hard shell case with generous extra cable and earpads! Additional pair of Alcantara pads. I greatly appreciate this more than anything else, as it would allow me to use the pads with other headphones.
